WHISKY BAR (a.k.a. THE ALABAMA SONG)
"Show me the way to the next whisky bar
Oh, don't ask why. Oh, don't ask why."
It's the first Whisky & Poetry Salon of summer!
Date: Wednesday, July 27, 2016
Time: 7 - 10 p.m.
Location: The Huron Substation, 2640 Huron Street, Los Angeles, CA 90065 (Glassell Park)
Tickets: HERE | $35 | This is a co-ed "Gentlemen's Edition" event
Concept: At the Whisky & Poetry Salon, we trade guests whisky for their words.
The bimonthly Salon was founded in 2012 by Women Who Whiskey ~ Los Angeles President Kim Ohanneson who is opening the Salon to L.A. Chapter members per request.
Each guest brings a poem, original or not, to read in an intimate, candlelit circle of fellow aficionados. No mics, no bright lights, no memorization needed.
In between poems, guests sample fine whisky accompanied by nosing/tasting notes, history and education.
A dynamic performance poet provides the evening's finale.
Mingling and light bites start the evening.
It's the first themed Salon: Lyrics as Poems/Poems as Lyrics
Bring a song lyric that works as a poem or a poem that's been made into a song.
PLEASE! No singing, back-up music or instruments! The point of the evening is to share work that has integrity as spoken word.
We can't wait to trade you whisky for your words....
